I created a wiki page, but it doesn't show up when I click on Wiki in the top nav.  The only way to get to it is through a link in the body of my home page since it's new content.

There are a few different approaches to wikis available. Ours is currently based on a model that requires you to create links to the new page before creating it.  We are discussing internally some options to make this easier to use for people who aren't used to working this way.  The current recommended process for creating wiki pages is:

  1. Edit an existing wiki page (for example, the wiki home page)
  2. Create a link to a wiki page that doesn't exist
  3. Save the page
  4. Follow the link
  5. You will be asked to create the new wiki page
  6. Create and save the wiki page

If this process is always followed then there will be no pages that are not linked to.  These are referred to as orphaned pages.  I'm interested in your feedback for a couple of the alternative approaches we're considering.

  1. The wiki home page contains some index listings of wiki pages and orphaned pages
  2. Add orphaned wiki page tracking to the dashboard

Thanks for clarifying.  Now that I read the explanation I recall that the current approach is the one that's the standard wiki approach.

For the purposes of Zingzam, which will probably attract a much broader audience, including many who have not worked with wikis, I like both of the alternatives.  They both seem intuitive and fool-proof.
