Usability problem: Easier access to creating content

I find that I have to navigate to my blog and click create new post a lot. The alternative is to click on the Create Content menu item and then choose "Blog Article" from the list. Most of my activity is posting blog articles so is there a way that I can add "create blog post" to the left hand navigation just for me?
