Aids for picking color schemes
I found that these sites were helpful in selecting and implementing a new color scheme:
http://colorschemedesigner.com/
http://www.colorsontheweb.com/colorwizard.asp
There are others, too, of course.
Yes, I think integrating one or more in some fashion would help.
Other ideas:
- Live preview
- Constrained (simple, with few things that could be changed, as opposed to advanced, as exists today) set of changes that could be made
- Explanation of what the different labels of the areas of the screen actually refer to
Picking background colors seemed straightforward. The difficulty was then picking text and link colors. The really spiffy approach would be to follow the constrained/simple idea above and to automatically pick text and link colors automatically (with the system using some tool that would be invisible to the user).
We have a story in to add a simplified colour picker. It's not scheduled yet though. Your feedback could help.
- What were the things you were interested in changing the colours of? It sounds like background colour, text and link colours. This will help us focus our simple colour picker.
- Would live preview have solved the issue by letting you see what you were changing instantly instead of guessing?

Thanks! Would there be any interest in integrating these types of tools to easily allow colour schemes to be created?
These are great for those starting from scratch. We have some features we are working on to make it easier to use an existing site as a starting point for your colour scheme on Zingzam. Stay tuned!
